Part-Time to Full-Time Clinician Position in Salida, Colorado

Are you a recent graduate looking for experience working in a private practice? Or perhaps you’re a fully -licensed clinician looking for a different opportunity or unsure about jumping into your own solo practice? If so, this job may be for you! Come join this group practice that is looking to grow a small team of clinicians that are finding what it looks like to work with their “ideal” client, hone in on a niche, be a part of a team, and have flexibility to enjoy life outside of work. We are big on providing quality, ethical, and trauma-informed mental health services. We take care to not let clinicians burn themselves out, but focus on working with ideally-matched clients and providing support for ongoing growth and learning.
High Rockies Counseling is a small, growth-oriented private practice based in Salida, Colorado, dedicated to increasing access to high-quality mental health care for rural Coloradans. A key specialty of High Rockies Counseling is faith-based counseling. This specialty is used to integrate Christian faith into sessions for clients who want to bring their personal faith and beliefs into his or her healing process. The client’s direction and discretion is used in how he/she wants to use scripture, prayer, relationship with God, and faith into session.
With an increased demand for mental health services in Salida, CO and surrounding areas, High Rockies Counseling is looking to pivot from a solo, private practice to a group practice with multiple clinicians. This is an exciting opportunity to grow as a clinician and work and live in a beautiful, fulfilling, welcoming mountain valley.
Required Qualifications
Licensed with DORA to practice in Colorado as a LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC. Internship and practicum opportunities are not accepted at this time, but please check back after June 2025 if you are interested in this.
Master’s Degree from an accredited University/College in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field required. Official transcripts may be required.
Part-Time to Full-Time Options: Employees must maintain a minimum caseload of 15 client sessions per week. Employees will be asked to schedule 2-3 sessions over their required session number per week to account for no-shows. Full-time position (25+ client sessions per week) is available if clinician desires to build up his/her caseload to full-time. Employees determine their own weekly schedule within the confines of available office space. Employees are given the freedom to determine when to work so long as they are maintaining the company's minimum weekly caseload requirement and striving to exceed it.
Interested and dedicated to building clientele to full-time status a plus.
Ability to demonstrate aspirational level ethical standards through work with clients and other professionals.
Highly-motivated, driven, and strong attention to detail.
Must be willing to be credentialed with insurance companies.
Must be willing to complete documentation within certain timeframes required for insurance billing and reimbursement.
Must be willing to see clients using Medicaid and Medicare insurance, as well as private insurance and self-pay clients.
Experience with children and teens a plus, but not required. Training in play therapy or sand therapy is a plus.
Must be trauma-informed or willing to be trained in this modality.
EMDR training is a strong plus, and preference will be given to applicants with this qualification.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Must be teachable and willing to adhere to practice policies.
Must have an understanding of the effects of trauma.
Computer expertise desired.
Essential Job Duties
Provide Counseling to individuals, couples, and/or families from preferred counseling modality and within the professional and academic scope of practice. Clinicians are not necessarily required to work with couples, children, or families and care will be taken to match appropriate clients with clinician’s experience level.
Work in-person at Salida work location seeing in-person and virtual clients.
Where applicable, assist in intake, scheduling, reception, and office maintenance duties. Employees are expected to maintain a high caliber of professionalism while working with clients and engaging with potential clients. Employees may be asked to participate in intakes, client greetings, etc. at times. Employees are expected to assist in the maintenance, cleanliness, and organization of the office space while in use.
Exhibit high professional standards, quality of care, adaptability, and a team-oriented approach.
Effectively respond to client needs and concerns, initiate and maintain positive interactions, and provide timely responses to phone calls, emails, and other requests.
Ability to critically think through cases to case conceptualize and develop treatment plans.
Participate in regularly scheduled supervision and/or clinical case consultation meetings.
Maintain accurate service records using Simple Practice for billing and data tracking purposes.
Ensure documentation meets standards for insurance billing and reimbursement, including Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and self-pay clients.
Submit all Progress-to-Date notes within 24 hours.
Complete service plans for Medicaid within 48 hours of intake session, review and modify service plan after 4 sessions with client.
Complete case closings within 60 days after last contact.
Faith-based counseling is offered to clients who wish to integrate their beliefs into sessions; knowledge or training in this area is a plus.
