Anxiety Treatment
Find Out How Anxiety Treatment Can Improve Your Quality of Life
Anxiety can manifest in various ways, from panic attacks and relentless worry to less obvious signs like irritability, anger outbursts, and isolation. Symptoms of anxiety can look different in everyone. Often, symptoms of anxiety can manifest as insomnia, changes in appetite, and fluctuating energy levels. For high-achievers, anxiety might fuel perfectionism, an obsessive need for control, difficulty setting boundaries, and people-pleasing behaviors. Anxiety can also undermine personal confidence, hinder professional success, and impact fulfillment in relationships.
Anxiety is very common and there are effective treatments in therapy for anxiety. Anxiety can sometimes be a result of trauma, maladaptive thoughts, or low self-confidence. Anxiety can happen when we don’t get enough sleep, feel stressed out, are going through difficult life changes, or are disconnected in our relationships with others.
How Can Anxiety Treatment Help?
Recognizing anxiety is the first step towards addressing it. With the right support, you can uncover how anxiety may be subtly affecting different aspects of your life. In therapy, I help you build emotional intelligence by identifying and understanding the behavioral patterns, negative thought cycles, and other factors that limit your success.
Using a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and EMDR techniques, we will work together to set clear goals and create a strategic plan for overcoming anxiety. Our focus may be on reducing people-pleasing tendencies, establishing healthy boundaries with work, self, and others, alleviating overwhelming worry and overthinking, and managing distress. My approach is designed to empower you to regain control and improve your overall well-being.
Does therapy actually work for anxiety?
In therapy, I use evidenced-based theories including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which is proven to work at improving anxiety. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has been widely used by therapists, psychologists, and social workers to treat anxiety, depression, and many other mental health issues. Therapy is not about “giving advice” to fix your problems, but working using proven methods to bring you relief.
Is therapy worth the cost?
Therapy for anxiety is an investment in yourself - your physical, mental, and relational health. If your “check engine” light in your car came on, you probably wouldn’t hesitate to take it to the mechanic for repairs. In the same sense, if your “check engine” light is coming on (in the form of anxiety, relationship distress, difficulty functioning in life), it’s important to get help from a professional to diagnose the problem and get help moving forward.
Do I really need therapy for anxiety?
It is common to face challenges in life, whether it is due to difficult life changes, increased stress, higher states of anxiety, or relationship troubles. It can be helpful to seek out extra support from a non-judgemental, unbiased therapist that is trained in helping people through these challenges. Additionally, a therapist can help you uncover “blind spots”, which are thoughts or behaviors that you are engaging in subconsciously or without realizing it. Therapy for anxiety can bring you long-lasting relief from anxiety.
